Last day in Nuremberg. The holiday is over and the town is less crowded and all of the stores are open. Many of the market stalls in the platz's are also open. We walked over to the Southeast side of old town.
This used to be an armory, built in 1588. It's now a police station.
This is the Mauthalle, former granary, built in 1498-1502. It became the customs and weighing building in 1571.
This is another view of the SE gate, the one you see when exiting the train station.
Next to this massive gate, I'm standing in the 'Craftsmen's Courtyard'.
The opera house was across the street, built between 1903-1905.
We needed a coffee and treat break so we headed back to Lorenzer Platz, in front of St.Lorenz Church.
It was time to go back to the hotel and pick up our luggage and call a taxi to get to the boat on the Main-Donau channel. Here's our desk and welcome goodies.
and .. our lovely room with veranda.
and a view from the top deck ..
At 6-pm we all gather in the lounge for a welcome cocktail and to meet the captain(Dennis), hotel manager(Aleks), and cruise manager(Maddy), followed by the mandatory safety briefing. At 6:45 we sail to Bamberg, navigating through seven locks! At 7-pm is dinner, at 9-pm in the lounge a local singer will entertain us. Afterwards, we'll probably go up top to watch us go through a couple of locks.
The 6-pm briefing was very interesting! We found out that we only have 55 on board for this trip. And .. we have 55 in the crew! Normally the passenger capacity is around 150. They had 120 on an earlier cruise and expect another 120 on the next cruise. I guess we'll get pampered. The captain says there are a total of 43 locks on this trip to Amsterdam.
Our first dinner ... this was the appetizer: baked coconut shrimp cake, mash peas, wakame, sriracha sour cream. Then we had king oyster mushroom soup, followed by a cleansing lemon sorbet/peppermint/sparkling wine.
Dessert was .. poppy seeds raspberry parfait, pistachio mini muffin, and orange sabayon. ALL - very yummmmmy.
Afterwards we went to the lounge to listen to a FABULOUS singer from London, Lindsay Hamilton, who belted out show tunes and popular hits. Wow, what a voice and tremendous range!
Should be a fun cruise. Jan and I signed up for a 15-mile bike ride along the Main River through Bamberg tomorrow. Should be loads of fun!
Take care, Jan & Joe

Fun to have such a small group on board! You could have dinner with all of them by the end of the week! I hope the bike ride was easy on your knees Dad!
